Alpine skiracing
knows no boarders

Welcome to #skiverrückt

From a Brazilian samba dancer, to a Neo-Dutch , to a 40-year-old returner with an artificial knee, skiing knows no bounds in the 2024/2025 season and is enjoying all these comebacks. One thing they have in common: All of them are #skiverrückt.

Lucas Braathen returns to the slopes after a year of no racing in a green-and-yellow racing dress. Marcel Hirscher, after a five-year ski retirement, competes again with the world's best skiers and Lindsey Vonn is back in the start gate with a new knee joint.
Now you might think a return to the Alpine World Cup would be totally simple. But it’s not as easy as it seems. Behind all these comebacks is hard work. A lot of ambition. A passion for racing. And maybe a bit of madness.

Christian Hirschbühl's diagnosis in January 2022 sounded crazy. Ankle fractured. Anklejoint broken. A fracture that required five operations. After this crash in the slalom in Wengen, he couldn't think about skiracing for the time being.

I went to and beyond my limits, I thought "that's it"

- Hirschbühl speaks candidly about his diagnosis.

The 34-year-old from Vorarlberg reveals deep insights into his emotional world, what he went beyond his limits for and what lessons he took away from this difficult time:

Christian Hirschbühl Talks About His Journey

The gaze is directed forward

After more than 1000 days - on Nov. 17th, 2024 he celebrated his comeback in Levi. It was a journey that came to a positive end after nearly three years of suffering. „One thing I definitely learned during this difficult time: As long as I believe in myself, I can do anything. I saw in Levi that I can keep up with the best skiers and that was enough for me personally and everything that lies ahead is an encore for me. My goal is to stay true to my self because I know I do good work," says Hirschbühl with a smile.

The slalom specialist now looks forward to the Season of World Championship with confidence and is exited for everything that lies ahead. We wish Christian all the best and hopefully see him at the World Champs in Saalbach.
