Very soon Saalbach will transform into the stage for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships – an exciting sporting event full of adrenaline, emotion, and fresh perspectives. But this championship consists of more than just breathtaking races: the Home of Snow will emerge as a groundbreaking hub focused on sustainability, innovation, and community.
The Alpine World Ski Championships have always been more than a competition; they are a meeting point for the global winter sports community. In 2025, this aspect will be elevated to an entirely new level. The Home of Snow, initiated by the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) in collaboration with the regions Saalbach, SalzburgerLand, and Tyrol, will offer, for the first time, a unified platform for networking, inspiration, and exchange.
From medal ceremonies to captivating discussions and engaging presentations, the Home of Snow unites sport and forward-thinking themes in one place. It is about more than victories on the slopes: topics such as sustainable energy, smart slope management, and digital transformation will shape the conversations and demonstrate how winter sports are evolving in the 21st century.
The Home of Snow represents lived hospitality, shared emotions, and above all, networking within the entire winter (sports) community. Beyond the many sporting highlights, we aim to lead by example and take responsibility, with a clear goal to shape the future of winter sports sustainably and decisively.
- Christian Scherer, CEO and Secretary General of the ÖSV
What would the World Championships be without emotion? The Home of Snow will be the stage for big moments: medal celebrations, events, and inspiring encounters. But it’s not just about the champions. Children, teens and young adults are equally at the heart of this concept, igniting their passion for winter sports.
At the same time, global challenges such as climate change, shifting leisure behaviors, and societal developments will be addressed. The Home of Snow will serve as a space where experts and decision-makers collaborate on future-proof solutions.
Andreas Birngruber, head of the renowned catering company Chef Partie, is delivering top-tier culinary experiences at the World Ski Championships Saalbach 2025 in the Home of Snow. With a team of around 60 employees, he relies on a simple yet perfectly organized structure to ensure the highest quality.
"It’s a straightforward setup, with a kitchen team of 20-25 people on-site and about 40 service staff. We have the privilege of working closely with tourism schools from Tyrol and Salzburg. It’s wonderful to see these young men and women moving around with such enthusiasm," says Birngruber with pride.
Sustainability and regionality are his top priorities – out of respect for food. Since 2007, Chef Partie has been certified with the Austrian Ecolabel, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility. At the World Championships in Saalbach, the company once again proved what it means to be an outstanding culinary host.
The Home of Snow symbolizes the commitment to balance: sporting excellence, ecological responsibility, economic sustainability, and social acceptance. It exemplifies the vision of winter sport that recognizes the challenges of today and actively works to shape the future.
