Snow Control

Another milestone achieved!

The excitement is building: with the successful snow control, another milestone has been reached on the road to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Saalbach 2025. But what exactly happens during a snow control?

Snow control is an official inspection process where the snow conditions on-site are thoroughly evaluated. The goal is to ensure that the slopes are in optimal condition before the event begins. A FIS representative assesses the snow depth, the preparation of the slopes, and overall conditions. The event is approved only when all criteria meet international standards.

Positive Snow Control

Markus Mayr, FIS Race Director for Women’s Technical Events, had no doubts in giving the go-ahead: the conditions for training runs and races are excellent. Slope preparation is progressing smoothly, with both the Schneekristall and Ulli-Maier courses in outstanding condition - a testament to the dedication of Bartl Gensbichler and his team.

We are very proud to provide world-class conditions for the best athletes in the world.

Bartl Gensbichler, Head of Sport

Preparations at the highest level

The hard work on-site is paying off: While the course construction progresses, the start areas are being prepared, and the race infrastructure is being gradually built. A key component of this process is the safety equipment. A total of 56 kilometers of safety nets are being installed, including 1.6 kilometers of A-nets and 41 kilometers of B-nets. The remaining nets are C and BC-nets, primarily used to separate the race areas from the public ski operations and provide additional protection for the athletes.

Additionally, the service village, complete with 116 containers, is already in place, and the foundations for the Team Parallel competition have been laid. With precision, teamwork, and passion, preparations for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Saalbach 2025 are progressing as planned. Get ready for a winter highlight you won’t want to miss!
